The Groningen School of Chamber Music (Kamermuziekschool Groningen) was established in 2011, by Michelle and violin/viola player Maaike ten Wolde.
Our purpose was to offer extracurricular lessons and courses in ensemble-playing for all ages and levels.
Each year, usually during winter, we organize an extensive ensemble-project, in which we form two or three string orchestras and various chamber music groups. These may also contain pianists, wind players or other instrumentalists. At the end of a two-month period of weekly rehearsals await two concerts! Repertoire varies broadly, from early music to modern, popular- and film scores.
All rehearsals are at the southern part of the city. they are lead by one of us, or incidentally by additional teachers.
The Covid pandemic made big ensembles and concerts very complicated. We are currently investigating our options for the ’22/’23 season.
