Groningen School of Chamber music

|

The Groningen School of Chamber Music (Kamermuziekschool Groningen) was established in 2011, by Michelle and violin/viola player Maaike ten Wolde.

Our purpose was to offer extracurricular lessons and courses in ensemble-playing for all ages and levels.

Each year, usually during winter, an extensive ensemble-project is organised, in which string orchestra(s) and various chamber music groups are assembled. These may also contain pianists, wind players or other instrumentalists. At the end of a two-month period of weekly rehearsals await two concerts! Repertoire varies broadly, from early music to modern, popular- and film scores.

Rehearsals are held at the southern part of the city. Now that Maaike is enjoying her well-deserved retirement, all lessons and rehearsals are lead by me, or incidentally by additional teachers.

The current project started in January and will see its final concerts on March 15th 2024 in ‘de Dilgt’ in Haren (for the elderly and invalid people who live there) and March 23rd 2024 in the Refajahkerk in Groningen. Concerts start at 19.30. Admission is free. Various quartets and a string orchestra will play music by Albinoni, Haydn, Grieg, Dvorak, filmscores from the Lion King and the Mask of Zorro, and so much more..
